BRICKING COMPLETED- OUR HOUSE IS CLOTHED

Even though it is Saturday the brickies were hard at work. They completed the bricking by mid-day. YEAHHHHHHH!!!! the bricking phase seems to take a long time.

I met with our Site Supervisor yesterday to sort out a few kitchen issues. He said that next week the eaves will be completed, the bricks will be acid washed and cleaned and the moroka rendering done. He wants the house to have the scaffolding removed asap as it does take up room in the lane way and the neighbours have been patient enough but we don't want to push it.

We have two big issues, we still don't have electricity or water. We have been borrowing a neighbours water to complete the bricks. Sydney Electric is being very slow and Sydney Water still needs to tap into the pipe running past our place. I really hope these issues can be resolved soon as the gyprocking requires electricity. And it would also sort of suck living in a house without electricity, water and gas.

LIGHTNING FAST BRICK PROGRESS- WOOSHCA!!!

I visited the house at 11am this morning. There were heaps of brickies, the front and eastern side were almost finished...zoooommm.

The head brickie said they will finish on Saturday or on Monday depending if they get a delivery of sand they desperately need. Talk about progress.

The top half of the house is going to be rendered so don't worry about the brick colour not matching.

The brickies posed for me. Cool guys.
Eastern side finished

3 MONTHS TODAY

It is 3 months since our start. YEAHH!!!
It was another beautiful day but the brickies were not on site to celebrate. No progress today. I hope they turn up tomorrow as they said they would have it finished by the end of the week.

BRICK UPDATE

Yesterday the forecast was a chance of rain. It rained all day non stop. :(.

Today the brickies were back on the job, not many in number but progress was made.

The front porch has two pillars. They have almost finished with the murray
grey and are about to start with the brick that will be rendered.
A sample of the uncleaned brick work. I really like the colour.

THE BRICKS ARE GETTING LAID IN THE RAIN- YEAHHHH!!!!

THE BRICKIES ARE BACK IN TOWN.

So happy to see them.
I have figured it out now, the brickies always turn up when it rains. Im so cool with that.
Anyway they have finished the first floor now and are starting to work on the second floor.

Sorry it's not much of a picture. I will take a better one next time.

STILL SUNNY & NOT A BRICK LAID ALL WEEK :(

No bricks laid all week.    :_-(

This afternoon the bricks have been moved into lots on the scaffolding.

BEAUTIFUL DAYS- NO PROGRESS

Two beautiful sunny days and not a tradie on site. :(
Oh well we're not the only people in the world building.

THE ROOF..THE ROOF...THE ROOF IS ON FIRE!!!!

Tiling of the roof was done today. How does the expensive and council dictated 'Terracotta Sydney Red' roof tiles look??? I am really surprised at how much I like it with the headlands colorbond guttering. Thankyou exterior colour designers at Wisdom.

GUTTERING +FASCIA

Im feeling guttered and fascia..ed today.
YES we have colour on our house. The colour is Colorbond Headland. What do you think???  I hope it looks ok with the Sydney red roof tiles (which are orange).

INTERNAL PLUMBING- TILES DELIVERED

Yesterday we were expecting the guttering and fascia to be put up but instead the plumbers were on site doing the internal plumbing. This morning nothing was happening but the roof tiles were delivered, so I assume that will be the next job. :)

SCAFFOLDING UP

I am so impressed with Wisdom Home Tradies. The Scaffolding went up on Saturday. So hopefully the roof tiling will be done on Monday as it is forecast to rain for the rest of the week.
We also noticed that one of our bi-fold doors looks to have had something heavy dropped on it and will need replacing....oops.

Pictures of Bricks so far

I spoke to our SS for our Friday afternoon conversation. He said that the scaffolding should go up asap and they will do the gutters, fascia and roof tiling next week. Then at the end of the week the brickies will return to finish off the bricks. Nothing happened today. Here are some pictures of the bricking progress.

Northern Side- half bricked
Western Side- half bricked

Brickie Continue

Today there were about 6 brickies working on the house. By the end of today they had completed about 2 metres high all the way around the house. It was raining on and off so I was very impressed. The quality of their work looks to be very good. I haven't yet seen a cracked or chipped brick and I saw a pile of rejected bricks.

The brickie hard at work, they love to have a chat too.

AND THE WALLS GO UP

Today a couple of brick wall were completed. I don't understand the hows or whys these two walls were completed and nothing more.....I really hope its not another problem.  Yesterday I think I found the solution to the missing fresh water pipes by obtaining old water maps of the area. The plumber has been digging in the western lane where there is only a sewer pipe. The fresh water pipe runs along the northern lane. Hopefully they will find it now.

THE SEWER MAP
Blue line is fresh water, Brown line is sewer (it figures).  Our block is pink.
The plumber hooked up to the sewer where the 7 is on the western lane....No fresh water.
If they dig on the northern lane they should hit the blue line and fresh water.

The little bit of bricking that was done today on the eastern wall.
The brick colour is boral murray grey dry pressed, it has a soft pink tinge to it, I think I really like it.

The wall joining the house to the garage.
The wall was still wet so it had just been completed.

AWAY IN PNG LAST WEEK- PROGRESS REPORT

We were in Papua New Guinea last week visiting friends. Thank you to all the great people in PNG who opened our eyes to an amazing country. Congratulations to Peter who fulfilled a life long dream of catching a big fish.

Anyway back to reality. I spoke to our S.S. today and the foundation bricks have been laid. Tomorrow they will put down the termite guards, then on Wednesday start re bricking. We still can't find the water pipes. Sydney Water cannot seem to help us so I am looking for an expert water finder somewhere who may be able to help, doesn't anyone have any ideas??????.

Our neighbours have allowed us to hook up to there pipes for the brick work. I am so grateful, Thank you so much.

Here are updated picture.

The bricks are called Boral Dry Pressed Murray Grey. I really quite like how they look.
